Northwoods Lodge

Life of Riley's Northwoods Lodge is a two-story 1926 log lodge filled with the comforts of home. It has seven bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second story. The first floor is a spacious living room area, with group sitting areas, a small pool table, a gaming table, fireplace and a dining table. The open area is perfect for family sharing -- allowing a variety of options for all ages. The kitchen, on the first floor, is a roomy area, complete with commercial six-burner stove, electrical appliances, loads of counter space, large dining table, deck access to commercial size double door cooler, picnic tables and charcoal grills. For convenience, a 1/2 bath is located off the kitchen. This nostalgic log structure was moved, in its entirety, from Crane Lake. The Handberg Lodge had been a focal point since 1926, hosting overnight guests as they explored the area. The building has seen a total upgrade and code completion while preserving the charm it has been known for. Plumbing has been added and gas lights were replaced with electric. The oil stove was removed and a gas fireplace adds ambience without any fire hazards. The outdoor kitchen has been moved indoors while the deck has been reconstructed to provide a spacious area for viewing down the bay.

The hardwood floors have been restored to the original shine and the pasteboard bedrooms have been insulated and paneled for a warm northland feel. Remodeling complete -- keeping it simple while making it comfortable was the objective.

This building offers a perfect opportunity for conferences, family reunions, business trip incentives, retreats, etc... The options are limitless and guests are encouraged to explore the wide range of things to do. The quality log structure was hand-hewn in the early 1920's finished and used through 1963. Its central location at the resort offers easy access to all areas: a short distance to the dock and immediate beach availability. The panoramic view of Norwegian Bay offers viewing of breathtaking Vermilion sunsets. Preserving a piece of Minnesota history, it boasts of the memories from the past, with the conveniences of the present. A remarkable building to host your unforgettable event.
